Overview

Dependent Child Sponsorship is part of Canada’s family sponsorship program. It allows parents who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor their children so they can live in Canada permanently. This program is designed to keep families together and provide children with the opportunity to live, study, and grow in Canada.

To sponsor a child, the parent must meet certain requirements and prove their relationship with the child. The child must also meet the definition of a “dependent child” according to Canadian immigration rules. Once the application is approved by Canadian immigration authorities, the child can receive a visa and move to Canada as a permanent resident.
