Overview

Federal Skilled Trades Program is for people who have practical trade skills and want to become permanent residents of Canada. This program comes under the Express Entry system and is specially made for workers who are trained and experienced in skilled trades.

This program is a good pathway for skilled trade workers who want to use their hands-on experience and build a stable and permanent future in Canada. There is no minimum education requirement for this program. Even if you do not have a college or university degree, you can still qualify if you meet the trade experience and other conditions.

Services We Support

  • Language Requirement - Meet required language level in English or French for speaking, reading, writing, and listening
  • Work Experience - At least 2 years of full-time work experience in skilled trade within last 5 years
  • Job Requirements - Meet job requirements for your trade according to Canada's National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • Job Offer or Certificate - Either valid full-time job offer for 1+ years OR certificate of qualification from Canadian authority

Program Requirements

To apply, you must meet some simple requirements: First, you need to meet the required language level in English or French for speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Second, you must have at least two years of full-time work experience (or equal part-time experience) in a skilled trade within the last five years before applying. You also need to meet the job requirements for your trade according to Canada's National Occupational Classification (NOC). You do not need a certificate just to create your Express Entry profile. However, you must either have a valid full-time job offer from a Canadian employer for at least one year, or you must have a certificate of qualification in your trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority.

Eligible Skilled Trades

Eligible skilled trades are grouped under specific NOC categories. These include: • Industrial, electrical and construction trades • Maintenance and equipment operation trades • Supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources and agriculture • Processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and control operators • Chefs, cooks, butchers, and bakers All these occupations are considered Skill Level B jobs in Canada.
