Overview
Canada offers programs that allow families to reunite by bringing parents and grandparents to live in the country. Two main options available for this purpose are the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) and the Super Visa Program. These programs give Canadian citizens and permanent residents the opportunity to support their parents or grandparents and help them move to Canada.
When parents or grandparents are sponsored through the Parents and Grandparents Program, they become permanent residents of Canada. This means they can live and work anywhere in the country and may also receive benefits such as publicly funded healthcare and other services. Over time, they may also become eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship.

The Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program (PGP) allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents to come and live in Canada permanently. Through this program, sponsored parents and grandparents receive permanent resident (PR) status, which allows them to: Live anywhere in Canada Work in any job or sector Access public healthcare and other services Eventually apply for Canadian citizenship
Eligibility Requirements
To sponsor your parents or grandparents, you must meet certain conditions set by Canadian immigration authorities. You must: Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada Be at least 18 years old Be the child or grandchild of the person you are sponsoring Meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) required for your family size Provide Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Notices of Assessment as proof of income Sign a sponsorship agreement promising to financially support your parents or grandparents for 20 years Sign an additional agreement if you live in Quebec
